The Elements
There are four main elements that are included in the make-up of everything on Earth. These elements are Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. Nothing can exist without at least one aspect of each element. These are the four that are celebrated in Wicca.
Air:
Compass point - East
Power Animals - Hawk, Raven, Eagle
Represents - intellect, communication, knowledge, telepathy, memory, wisdom, prophesy, movement, karma, speed, ability to unlock secrets of the dead, to contact angels, smell, thought, study, beauty, inspiration, poetry.
Fire:
Compass Point - South
Power Animals - Lion, Phoenix, Dragon
Represents - loyalty, force, energy, purification, courage, creativity, higher self, success, refinement, arts & transformation, change, passion, war, vengence, victory, warm romance, primal lust
Water:
Compass Point - West
Power Animals - Dolphin, Swan, Crab
Represents - dreams & dreamtime, intuition, emotions, inner self, flowing movement, sypathy, love, the currents & tides of life, psychic revelation, the great equalizer
Earth:
Compass Point - North
Power Animals - Bear, Stag, Wolf
Represents - conservation & nature, growth, fertility, birth & healing, business, industry, possesions, stability, consistencey, sustanance, all that is firm & certain, truth, honor, justice
The Elementals
The elementals are the spirit form of each of the elements. With practice, anyone can see an elemental. In the following sections are the names of each elemental, which element they represent, what things are good gifts to them, and where they can usually be found.
Sylphs:
Element - Air
They Are - Faieries, Aroma Sprites, and Alven
Good Gifts - flowers and perfume
About Sylphs - Sylphs maintain balance within nature, oversee all undertakings of the element. They can be found in tornadoes, hurricanes, whirlwinds, gentle breezes, or a sudden gust of wind
Salamanders:
Element - Fire
They Are - Salamanders
Good Gifts - firey rocks like obsidian, or a bonfire, firey herbs and incense
About Salamanders - Salamanders are the guiding force and essence of of a deep flame. Can be found in fires, erupting volcanoes, and flowing lava.
Undines:
Element - Water
They Are - Water Sprites, Nixies, Kelpies, Water Babies
Good Gifts - Blue beads, moonstone, silver
About Undines - The are behind the rise and fall of the tides, currents of rushing streams, and rivers. They can be seen on the crests of waves rolling in from the ocean.
Gnomes:
Element - Earth
They Are - Gnomes, Dyads, Thornbreaks
Good Gifts - Shiny metals, coins, gems, stones, marbles, etc...
About Gnomes - They live in gardens, trees, bushes. Once they've found a place to live, they stay there. Sometimes they may live in the home of a family that lives near them.
